An unhappily married couple receive a small wooden box on their doorstep. At the push of a button, the box brings its bearer instant wealth but also instantly kills someone the bearer doesn't know.
Robert Neville is a brilliant scientist, but even he could not contain the terrible virus that was unstoppable, incurable and man. Somehow immune, Neville is now the last human survivor in what is left of New York and maybe in the world. But he is not alone. It is surrounded by "infected" victims of the plague has mutated into carnivorous beings who can only exist in darkness, which absorb or infect anyone or anything in their path. After a period of three years, Neville has spent his days with the collection system for food and supplies and sending radio messages of faith, an attempt to find other survivors who might. This cable version of SALEM'S LOT was released theatrically overseas as BLOOD THIRST and contains more explicit violence than the made-for-network-television miniseries. Based on the novel by Stephen King and followed by the sequel A RETURN TO SALEM'S LOT.
